The report which we sent to the League
of Nations Union on the 5th of October, 1931 is
(11) on 82758/31). It was the second re port
on Mui Tsai received from Hong Kong and covered
the half-yearly period ending 31st May, 1931.
We have received two half-yearly reports from
Hong Kong since then and another is due soon.
The report covering the half-year to 33.11.31
is (1) on 92613/32 and that covering the half-
year to 31.5.32 is () on the same file.
Copy of both reports were sent to the House
of Commons Library and to Sir John Simon.
copy of (1) was sent to the Anti-Slavery
Society, but not a copy of (11). Though
both reports are satisfactory we have not
given them more publicity than necessary
in order to avoid supplying anti-slavery
zealots with small ammunition with which to
bombard us. (See Sir J. Shuckburgh's minute
on 12.8.32 on 92613/32).
As copies of both the 1932 reports
are now asked for, I think they should be sent
(I attach a spare copy of the first report.
Several spare copies should be made of (11) on
92613/32 as we may have further requests from
other organisations).
